The perfect balance between health and care...

Palliative care is a specialized form of healthcare for individuals and families who are living with a life-limiting illness that is usually at an advanced stage. The goal of palliative care is to provide comfort and dignity for the person living with the illness, as well as the best quality of life for both this person and their family.

Our Palliative care team aims to improve quality of life for people suffering from chronic or life-threatening illnesses by:

  • Relieving the resident’s pain and other symptoms.
  • Addressing the resident’s emotional and spiritual needs.
  • Helping the resident and their family understand the disease and diagnosis.
  • Helping the resident and family clarify treatment goals and options.
  • Understanding and supporting the resident’s ability to cope with their illness.
  • Assisting the resident in making medical decisions.

Our palliative team consists of specially-trained doctors and nurses who work in coordination with the patient’s regular medical providers. Depending on an individual’s specific needs and desires, the team may also include social workers, chaplains, nutritionists, and other medical professionals.
